PANEL DISCUSSION ON “TRENDS & FUTURE PROSPECTS OF HR” SATURDAY, DECEMBER 03, 2016 In our constant endeavor to achieve Academic Excellence, HR Department of IMSGhaziabad under the stewardship of Prof. J.P. Sharma Director IMS Ghaziabad, organized “Panel Discussion on TRENDS & FUTURE PROSPECTS OF HR” for PGDM Students on Saturday, December 03, 2016. The mega event witnessed the presence of HR Stalwarts – Dr. Debi Singh Saini, Ex Professor, MDI, Gurgaon, Mr. Anupam Malik, Additional Labour Commissioner, Chandigarh Haryana, Mr. Avinash Chandra Joshi, Director (HR) UJVN Ltd. and Dr. Nanditesh Nilay, Chairman, ISTD Delhi Chapter. Prof. J. P. Sharma welcomed Guest for the day. Dr. Saini shared his thoughts about changing dynamics of HR, emerging debate on abolishing HR department and requirement of HR Skills among all other functional domains. The audience felt enriched with the deliberation by Mr. Anupam Malik on the theme of Social Dialogue: The ultimate HR Technology. He also discussed his experiments on social dialogue in different companies. Mr. Avinash Chandra Joshi and Dr. Nanditesh Nilay shared the current HR practices in government and private organizations. The expert speakers, post the presentation session, answered the questions raised by the students. The session was moderated by Dr. Saini. The students were quite involved and enthusiastic while asking questions from the experts. It was an enriching experience for the audience and the session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak Program Chairperson (PGDM). The conveners of the event Dr. Lata Bajpai Singh, Area Chairperson HR & Dr. Anjali Rai vowed to organize such events in future, after witnessing the overwhelming response of the students.

FDP on “Successful Case Teaching: Bringing Field to Class”
on November 19, 2016, at IMS Ghaziabad

Under the stewardship of Director IMS Ghaziabad, Prof. J.P. Sharma, a one day FDP on “Successful Case Teaching: Bringing Field to Class” was organized on November 19, 2016 at MDP Room of IMS Ghaziabad. In his inaugural address, Prof. J.P.Sharma, stressed on the need for quality “Case Studies” in B-Schools. It helps in simulating a situation and drawing best-fit solutions by the budding managers.

Dr. Dwarika Prasad Uniyal, Assistant Dean,IIM-Kashipur( Dehradun campus), with its enriched experience of over 17 years in premier B-Schools, underlined the need for communicating properly with the learners. He initiated a discussion with the participants on video clip- “Cargo Cult”. Dr. Uniyal also took up a case on “Parable of a Sadhu”. During his discussion, he also stressed on the need for strong communications skills and theatrics in order to leave impact on the audience.
In the second session, Dr. Deepak Tandon, Professor (Finance & Accounting), & Programme Chairperson-PGDMBFS, of IMI, New Delhi, took up “Case Writing & Publishing” aspects. In his view, Case Writing requires updated information and data related to a company besides declaration from the CEO of the company. He also encouraged participants towards case writing.

The program was anchored by FDP Co-convner Ms Servjaeta Verma. It concluded with a “Valedictory Session”, where all participants were given “Certificate of Participation”, in the presence of Director, Prof. J.P.Sharma and Chairperson-FDP/MDP Dr. S K Dube. The Program Chair-PGDM DR. Tapan Kumar Nayak and HOD MCA Dr. Awadhesh Gupta were also present. FDP Convener Dr. Pankaj K. Agarwal, proposed a “Vote of Thanks”.

Special Talk by an International Faculty

With the aim to provide global Perspective in education, IMS Ghaziabad organized a Special Talk by Dr. Shimdeok Noh, Professor, Youngsan University, South Korea on August 20, 2015 for PGDM first year students.

Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad, Mr. Vidur Chharia along with Dr. Shimdeok Noh took the blessings of Goddess Saraswati before starting the session. Dr. Makkar while addressing students stated that it’s a privilege of Institute and students to have Dr. Noh, an acclaimed researcher who has been a scholar in University of Pennsylvania, USA at our campus. Dr. Makkar also emphasized the importance of Cross-cultural management and International diversification of corporate culture.

Dr. Noh started the lecture by briefing the students about the history of the Republic of Korea and talked about the transformation of Korea from a country which was not self sufficient, to the country which ranks in top 10 highest GDP rating countries.

While addressing to the queries of budding managers, Dr. Noh shared about the trade relationship between India and Korea. She talked about the cultural diversity among the work cultures of these two countries and the challenges which each country has to face while trading with each other. She also enlightened the students by sharing the successful ventures, mergers & acquisition of Korean companies with Indian companies. The PGDM Students were benefited by the learning and discussion with such internationally acclaimed professor.
