Visit to Inland Container Depot (ICD) Tughlakabad, Delhi by PGDM Students of IB specialization on September 15, 2017

Under the stewardship of the visionary Director of IMS Ghaziabad-Prof. J. P. Sharma, a new specialization- International Business was launched for PGDM students. To boost the morale of students, an Industrial visit was organized for Inland Container Depot (ICD) Tughlakabad.

The PGDM II Year (Batch 2016-18) students of International Business (IB) specialization visited Inland Container Depot (ICD) Tughlakabad, Delhi on September 15, 2017. The ICD Tughlakhabad is one of the oldest but most modernized, dry port which handles imports and exports bound containers through railways from gateway ports like Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, or Chennai or by road like Kandla, Haldia Kolkata. ICD Tughlakabd has Exports and Imports clearances in its premises. While the Indian Customs handle the all clearance related to Imports & Exports, the Container Corporation (CONCOR), is a custodian of the premise and the CISF undertakes all security related aspects.

The Superintendent (Imports), explained the different processes related to imports- seal checking & breaking process of an import container, de-stuffing and mandatory customs inspection, bonded warehouse and related clearance formalities by an importer. The Sr. Manager, Mr. Chaudhary (Imports-CONCOR), explained the customs clearance formalities to the students. In the exports division, students were shown the formalities related to pre-shipment inspections, and other warehousing clearances. The Asst. Commissioner, Mr. Malhotra (Imports) also met the students. Finally, Dr. S. K. Dube, Area Chairperson-IB, who was accompanying the students, on behalf of the IMS Ghaziabad, extended thanks to all the authorities, for facilitating and extending hospitality during the visit.

IMS Ghaziabad organized Workshop on “Case study Analysis” for PGDM 2017- 19 Batch

In its constant endeavor to provide holistic development and exposure to its students IMS Ghaziabad organized one day workshop on “Case study Analysis “on September 01, 2017 under the abled leadership of Prof J.P Sharma, Honorable director IMS Ghaziabad. Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak, Programme Chairperson PGDM graced the occasion with his inaugural remarks wherein he reinforced the importance of case studies in the domain of management education and motivated the students to understand the pragmatic approach of a case which will help them to outshine in the corporate world.
The unique agenda behind designing this workshop was to develop expertise in our students on how to solve a case study? Our students community hails from diversified academic background hence it was a magnificent opportunity for them to discover the various functional spheres of Management education.

The workshop was conducted by the academic fraternity of IMS Ghaziabad who holds array of experience and expertise in their respective areas. The case study based on Marketing scenario was conducted by Dr. Dhiraj Sharma, Area Chairperson , Marketing followed by a case on Financial Analysis catered by Dr. Neeraj Sanghi , Area Chairperson , Finance, Dr. Lata Bajpai Singh continued the session with a case based on practices in the field of Human Resources along with Dr. Tushar Mahajan, Professor , Operations who concluded the workshop with his proficiency on a case based on Operation Management.
The informative session conclude with an opportunity for students to discuss their doubts followed by Vote of thanks.

IMS Ghaziabad organized Orientation on “First Steps-The PGDM Tour” by GHRDC for PGDM 2017- 19 Batch

IMS Ghaziabad has organized two days workshop on “The First Step of the PGDM Tour” by Global Human Resource Development Centre as part of orientation program for the PGDM 2017-19 batch on August 29-30, 2017. The two days workshop for all the first year students was delivered to imbibe enthusiasm and focused learning among the students.
The day began with the welcome of the facilitator Ms. Mekhla Sinha, Executive Director & Ms. Neha Kapoor, Manager of GHRDC along with motivational address by the eminent director Prof. J. P. Sharma. During the address he shared the importance of the first few steps in life and the way it would contribute in achieving the Goal of the life of the students. The first session of the workshop included icebreaking exercise where the students introduced themselves in very creative manner and became prepared to grasp the learning form the other sessions. The participants were exposed to different fears and hopes of their life and then handling them through goal setting exercise. They participants found themselves enriched with the key tips for standing ahead among the crowd.

The post lunch sessions were about handling time & dealing with stress. It also included the facilitation by the trainers about the important criteria of recruitment i.e. Communication skills. With the help of audio visual inputs and different exercises throughout the workshop the participants enjoyed the experiential learning. At the end of the workshop, all the students participated were felicitated with the Certificate of participation by Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak, Programme Chairperson-PGDM, IMS Ghaziabad, Ms. Mekhla Sinha, Executive Director, GHRDC and Ms. Neha Kapoor, Manager-GHRDC along with Faculty Coordinators Dr. S. K. Dube and Ms. Khushboo Sherwani.

PGDM Fresher’s Day Celebration

PGDM Fresher’s Bash at IMS Ghaziabad LAVISH SPECTACULAR AND ELECTRIFYING!! These words aren’t enough to summarize the PGDM ‘Fresher’s Party’, at IMS Ghaziabad. The senior PGDM batch 2016-2018 organized an extravagant fresher’s party on August 19, 2017. It was an ecstasy filled afternoon, where the fresher’s got an opportunity not only to showcase their talents but also to interact with their seniors. Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the students. The blossoming minds entered the auditorium sticking to the theme ‘Bubbles & Splash’. The Royal Colors of Summer filling the arena with some serious royal vibes. It felt like entering into another dimension utopia of wonder. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Director, IMS Ghaziabad, heartily welcomed the PGDM batch 2017-2019 students. With pulsating ambience, flashing lights, bright colors and foot tapping music, the party began with a blast. The event was nothing short of an award night with The PGDM first year batch participating whole heartedly for the titles of Mr. and Ms. Fresher – 2017. The run for the titles was further glorified by gala song and dance performances by the seniors. Mr. Satyajeet Chatterjee and Ms. Anshu Kalra were crowned Mr. and Ms Fresher’s 2017. Mr. Karamjeet Singh and Ms. Satakshi Pandey bagged Mr. and Ms. Popular -2017. All the Winners were felicitated by the Programme Chairperson Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak along with Faculty Judges and last year’s Mr. and Ms. Fresher. The electrifying atmosphere was filled with fun, enthusiasm and excitement followed by DJ and refreshing dinner.

IMS Ghaziabad organized MCA Orientation Programme 2017 on the occasion of commencement of its MCA (3 Year) Batch (2017-20) & Lateral Entry Batch (2017-19) on August 10, 2017. The Induction programme revolved around the theme: “Corporate Expectations from Young Technocrats”.

In the gracious presence of Shri. Pramod Agarwal, Managing Trustee, IMS Ghaziabad & Sh Rakesh Chharia, General Secretary, IMS Society, Prof. J. P Sharma, Director IMS Ghaziabad welcomed the Chief Guest – Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Khandal, President R&D and Business Development India Glycols Limited, Delhi (Former Vice Chancellor- Dr. A.P.J.A.K.T.U Lucknow), Keynote speaker – Dr. V. P. Singh, Advisor Organizational Development, Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Guest of Honor & Expert Speaker – Dr. Ajay K Gupta, Director Computer Center, University of Delhi and Senior Alumnus of IMS Ghaziabad Mr. Lalit Chaudhary, SAP Integration Specialist. Utegration Inc. Houston USA.
Prof. Khandal urged the budding technocrats to remain simple and excel in life. Dr V. P. Singh highlighted the importance of asking active questions in life while remaining focused on one’s objectives & goals. Dr Ajay Gupta apprised the audience highlighting the latest technological trends in the I.T industry, their demands and upwards trends in I.T Recruitments. Senior Alumnus – Mr Lalit shared his experience and corporate expectations with the newly admitted batch. Dr. Avadhesh Kumar Gupta, Head MCA proposed the vote of thanks. More than 350 students including Parents and Faculty and Staff Members of the Institute attended the event. It was a profound learning experience for the students.

Seminar on “LLP: A New Law”

Under the auspices of “Special Seminar Series”, a Special Lecture was delivered by Prof. J. P. Sharma, Director, IMS Ghaziabad, on “ LLP: A New Law ”, on August 1, 2017 . This was the 20th Lecture since the inception of the ‘Special Seminar Series’. Prof. Sharma Sir is quite instrumental in initiating “Special Seminar Series”, keeping in mind the “Dissemination of Knowledge” among IMSians.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Sharma reminded that ‘Commendas & Societas’ were prevalent in 11th century. He traced its origin to Italy where it prevailed as ‘Medieval Business Model’. While deliberating on “Historical aspects”, Prof. Sharma told that such ideas also spread to other parts of the world like France, Germany, China, Japan, USA, etc. The UK had pursued three forms of Partnerships governed by Partnership Act, 1890; The Limited Partnership Act 1907 and LLP Act 2000.

In addition, Prof. Sharma also discussed developments of LLP in India. He further talked about its relevance: ie ‘Hybrid Model’ and benefits associated with it as compared to a company. He also elaborated various other aspects related to LLP: its status, partners, name, Limited Liability, Incorporation Documentation, Form of contribution, Annual Accounts & Annual Returns, Audit, and Miscellaneous provisions under which electronic filing, winding up & dissolution of LLP, Foreign LLPs were covered. Chairperson of “Special Seminar”- Dr.S. K. Dube expressed vote of thanks to the Director and National anthem followed.
